Arthur May "Jim" Obituary

May: Arthur James “Jim”, 79 of Johnstown died March 21, 2018 after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer at The McCullough Place.  Born December 27, 1938 in Johnstown the son of the late Harvey Furlough and Erma (Kaufman) May.  Survived by wife of 52 years the former Norma Perez and these children Amy married to Thomas Musselman; Virginia Beach, VA and Tina Alexander; Johnstown, and Son-In-Law Wayne.  Also survived by grandchildren Kayla, Riley, and Colby Alexander, and Timothy, Samuel, and Daniel Musselman.  Jim graduated from Conemaugh Township High School and Albright College.  He served with the Merchant Marines, then six years in the Marine Corps. Reserves, where he taught himself how to play the piano.  At age 40, Jim moved his family to the Johnstown area to follow his dream of starting his own business.  Allied Seals is still a successful business of 39 years, still run by his family.  Jim was an avid golfer and tennis player, having run the GJTA for many years with his wife.  Jim also enjoyed traveling with Norma and their friends, scuba diving, and riding his motorcycle.  Jim had many friends and was well-liked and respected by so many in the community.  The family would like to thank the staff at McCullough for their love and devotion to Jim.  He loved playing the piano there and singing with all the girls.  At his request, there will be no viewing or services.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date, please watch the funeral home webpage.  Donations can be made to the GJTA Resurfacing Fund, 700 Glenwood Ave. Johnstown, PA 15905, in Jim's honor and memory.
