Betty Jane (Augsburger) Moyer 92, of Davidsville Pa., went home to the Lord, January 19, 2018 at her home. She was born April 10, 1925 in Middlebury Indiana, daughter of Arthur and Clara (Miller) Augsburger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark Eldon Moyer, her husband of 64 years, her sons Timothy William, and Stephen Arthur, grandson Shawn Edward Moyer, great grandsons Jonas Mark, and Jeremiah William Shaffer and Dominic Krathowill, brother Donald Augsburger and sister Alberta Rensberger.  She is survived by children, Kathleen Ann, married to Kenneth Birnbaum, Baltimore, Md., Nicholas Mazucco Moyer, married to Beverly (Freyenberger), Kouts, Ind., Linda Mazucco Moyer, Sellersville, PA., Mary Ruth, married to Randall Ziegler, Sellersville, PA., Jeanette Louise, married to William Hunsberger, Davidsville, Alice Marie, married to Scott Eldredge, Abington, Pa., Eileen Kay, married to Michael Waidelich, Archbold, Ohio, and Dorothy Annette, married to Brad Leissa, Brookville, Md., 35 grandchildren,  and 45 great grandchildren.

Betty attended Middlebury Schools and graduated in 1943. She then attended La Junta School of Nursing, graduating in 1946.  She finished her formal education at Goshen College obtaining her bachelor of science in nursing, graduating 1946. 

Along with parenting nine children, Betty worked as a nurse at Abington Hospital and later in life at Rockhill Mennonite Nursing Home in Sellersville, Pa.  As her children grew up and left home she volunteered in many organizations through church and community.  During their retirement years,(1986-1989) Betty and Mark served under the combined efforts of Mennonite Central Committee and the Presbyterian Church of South Africa at Lovedale Press. Betty’s responsibilities included volunteer work at the Alice (Lovedale) bookstore and at the Fort Hare University library in Alice, located in the Ciskei province of South Africa. 

Betty’s qualities of simplicity, perseverance, service, humility, non-violence, love for creation, compassion for those who suffer and finding contentment in any circumstance were evident in her daily life and inspired by her strong faith in God.

 Special thanks to Windber hospice, Norma Gindlesperger, Pat Popolo, Aggie Hackett and Terri Dovey for their loving care, making it possible for Betty to remain in her home through her final years.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening January 23 and from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, at Stahl Mennonite Church. Burial will be held at 2 pm Thursday, January 25, at Doylestown Cemetery with family present.

Those who wish may make donations to Mennonite Central Committee, Akron, Pa. in celebration of Betty’s life.
