Andrew Salata

Salata: Andrew, 87 of Windber, died April 8, 2018 at Home.  Born July 28, 1930 in Windber the son of John and Barbara (Berish) Salata.  Preceded in death by parents, wife Arlene (Fisher) Salata who died March 31, 2018, son Rick Salata, daughter Cathy Holdsworth, and brothers Arthur, Lewis, John and Steven. Survived by son Robert and wife Sherrie.  Grandfather of Robert L. (Becky), Carrie (Alex), Leslie, Melissa (Kenny), and Jolene (Mark), and Great Grandfather of Jaxon, Kohl, Graycee, Janel, Alex, Marcus, James, Curtis, and Aiden.  Brother of James. Retired from Bethlehem Mine.  He was a Marine Corp. veteran of the Korean Conflict and was in the Merchant Marines following.  Andy loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He loved to fix things and there wasn’t many things he couldn’t fix.  In their later years he and Arlene were never apart until her death which ended a union of 61 years.  Andy was the caretaker of the whole extended family and his family will miss his care and support.  No viewing at his request.
