"Alan" David Alan Mankamyer

“Alan” David Mankamyer, 58, Davidsville, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 10, 2026, unexpectedly but peacefully at home. He was born May 27, 1967, son of the late David and Judith Mankamyer. Also preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond and Sylva Mankamyer, and Bernice and Wilbert “Dutch” Pile.

David graduated from Somerset Area High School in 1985. He went on to earn an associate degree in agribusiness and later pursued aviation studies at Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, completing his education in 1990. He worked as a commercial pilot and was also involved in wind energy operations.

David was a devoted father, loyal friend, and man of deep and steady faith. More than anything, he loved being a dad. He is survived by his two daughters, Lexi Mankamyer (24) and soon-to-be son-in-law Caleb Killett of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Ella Mankamyer (17) of Davidsville, Pennsylvania. He cherished every moment spent with them—whether it was taking them on plane rides, going for drives, sharing ice cream trips, enjoying dinners together, or simply listening to music side by side.

He is also survived by his siblings, Kelly (Kelly) Lohr of Friedens and Chris Mankamyer of Tampa, Florida, nieces, Kady and Abby Lohr, as well as his loving partner, Mary Ann Flynn, who had been looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together.

Alan had a way of connecting with people that made them feel valued, heard, and appreciated. A lifelong member and leader within the Lutheran Church, David’s faith guided every part of his life. Known to many as Alan, he was an aviation technician, a dedicated member of the aero club, and someone who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Aviation was one of his greatest passions—he found joy not only in flying, but in sharing that passion with others. Through his involvement on the aero committee, he worked to grow and strengthen the aviation community that meant so much to him.

Alan will be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and the quiet strength of his character. He lived with purpose, cared deeply for those around him, and found happiness in both life’s big moments and its simplest joys.

A visitation will be held at St. David’s Lutheran Church in Davidsville on Saturday April 18, 2026 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral at 1 P.M.
