Alwine: Betty Ruth, 87 of Arbutus Park Manor formerly of Hollsopple went home to the Lord August 30, 2018 at the Manor. Born August 23, 1931 in Jenner Township the daughter of Lester and Twila (Mishler) Alwine. Preceded in death by parents and these siblings Glenn, James, Edith and husband Charles Lydic, and Irene Alwine. Survived by sister Millie married to Dave Miller, sister-in-law Beatrice Alwine, and these nieces and nephews Robert (Bonnie) Alwine, Franklin (Cheryl) Alwine, Deidre Ann Alwine, Mary Ann Mancos, Kenneth (Valarie) Miller, Suzanne (Rev. David) Ealy, and Jonathan (Rebeca) Miller, and great nieces and nephews Eric (Jessica), Stephen, Kevin Alwine, and Charlotte and Evan Miller and Samuel and Benjamin Miller. Betty was a 1949 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School and a 2001 graduate of Cambria Rowe. She was a faithful member of Centennial United Methodist Church where she held many offices. She was the Johnstown District Youth Coordinator for 23 years and then held office in the Johnstown District United Methodist Women for 12 years and was active in the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Women also. She retired from Best Form and worked for Dorfman Hoffman in Boswell and Somerset for 45 years. No viewing at Betty’s request. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service for Betty at 2 P.M. Saturday September 8 at Centennial United Methodist Church Family will receive friends from 1 until time of service. Private inurnment Thomas Mennonite Cemetery. Family asks donations be made to Camp Allegheny or Centennial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in Betty’s memory.
