Bruce Berkebile "Sonny" Obituary

Berkebile: Bruce Andrew “Sonny”, 88 died August 22, 2020 at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital.  Born February 24, 1932 in Wilbur the son of Guy and Lulu (Grine) Berkebile.  Preceded in death by parents and these siblings, Guy, Cloyd, Cletus, and Lorraine Oaks and special neighbor Butch Shaffer.  Survived by daughters Kelly McClarren (Bryan) and Gena Berkebile (Devyn).  Also survived by grandchildren Amanda (Nate) Bates, and Angela (Mark) Cruz and great grandchildren Eli and Mai’ana Cruz.  Brother of Dwaine (Romayne) Berkebile.  Bruce is also survived by many grand fur babies, special neighbors Linda Shaffer, Tom and Celina Horner, and Tom and Connie Hutchinson, Josh and Melissa Hostetler, and the entire Hidden Valley Neighborhood, and Jeannie Berkebile.  Bruce was a Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War aboard the USS St. Francis from 1950-1953.  He retired from Bethlem Steel as an Electrician.  Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and playing pool.  He loved collecting Native American and Wolf Deco and working in his woodshop.  Family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville where masks are recommended with social distancing.  Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Friday at Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.  Family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Somerset County Humane Society in Bruce’s memory.
