Barabas: David E. “Uncle Dave” of Jerome went to his heavenly home on June 30, 2025, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born June 9, 1952, in Johnstown, the son of Michael C. and Mary (DiBuono) Barabas. Preceded in death by parents, granddaughter Piper, and brother Michael and sister Patricia. Survived by loving, faithful wife of 50 years Mary “Sis” (Gironda) Barabas and these loving children: Dave and wife Kim, Renee and husband Paul, and Amanda. His joy was his grandchildren Zach (Grace), Connor (Justine), Emily (Braden), David (Grayce), Adam (McKenzie), Patrick, Andrew (Maddie), Lauren (Seth), Keegan, Skylar, and Ashton. Dave was overjoyed with his great-grandchildren, Luka, Mila, Thea, Rhys, Oliver, Zoe, Connor, and baby number 8 on the way. He will be dearly missed at Sunday family dinners. Dave was a proud 1970 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a faithful member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council and as a Youth Group Leader. Deeply invested in his local community, Dave served in many capacities, as a member of the Conemaugh Township School Board, an officer of the Zoning Board, a Social member of the Jerome Fire Hall, and as a Little League and AYSO Coach and Referee. Dave was a Registrar for the Pennsylvania State Vital Statistics. He was a professional photographer who took countless wedding and senior pictures and an avid Pittsburgh Pirates Fan who enjoyed going to games with his family. “Uncle” Dave was also a member of the Camp PARC Staff, having served his fellow campers and counselors for over 3 decades. To know “Uncle” Dave was to be welcomed with open arms, a wide smile, and usually a kiss on the cheek. Uncle Dave shared the Camp PARC spirit with everyone he met and recruited countless volunteers to serve in this mission of love. Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 10 A.M. at St. David’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Fischer and Bishop Emeritus Gregory Pile officiating. Family asks donations in Dave’s memory be made to Camp PARC, online through their website: www.campparc.org or Box 404, Davidsville, PA 15928, or to Jerome Volunteer Fire Company, 1885 Penn Ave, Jerome, PA 15937.
