Hersh, Edna Irene (Corky) of Westmont, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2024 at Westmont Woods. Born December 19, 1927 in Johnstown, daughter of Harold T. and Irene Grace (Howard) Sipe. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis P Hersh; her parents, and her sister Betty and Carl Coughenour. Survived by her daughter Sherry, married to Leonard Shurin and her beloved granddaughters, Holly Shurin and Amy DeArmey and husband Travis. She is also survived by nephews: Harold Coughenour (Sue) and Ronald Coughenour (Brenda) both of Hollsopple who called her Aunt Katie and special niece Rose Mary Steffien (Robert), Cleveland. She leaves behind her two best friends and prayer partners, Linda Erb and Beverly Zeiler. Edna loved her church family and was deeply involved in sharing her faith. She taught Sunday School for more than 50 years and served as a Certified Lay Speaker for twenty-five years. She was active in United Methodist Women. She spent many hours reading and studying the Bible, which she read in its entirety thirty times. She felt a special regard for children with cancer and was a Partner in Hope with St. Jude’s Hospital for 20 years. She loved to reminisce about her high school years when she was chosen as the first majorette for Conemaugh Township High School, and told stories about the 1936 Johnstown Flood, and World War II. There will be a private interment at Maple Spring Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date.
