Emily Maslar Obituary

Maslar: Emily A. passed away at Laurel View Village from Covid related complications January 8, 2021.  Born May 8, 1930 in New Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of Peter and Julia Austrevich.  Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, loving husband Frank, and beloved grandson Frankie.  Emily is survived by children Frank and Cheri Maslar of Grosse Ile, MI and Monica and Michael Garver of Westmont and five grandchildren: Amanda wife of Pat Brondyke of Grand Rapids, MI, Julia Maslar of Wyandotte, MI, Mike and wife Mareah Garver of Cranberry, PA, Megan Emily Garver of Philadelphia, and Molly L. Garver of Pittsburgh as well as great grandson PJ Brondyke. Emily was a beloved Aunt to many (canasta, lasagna or party mix anyone?) and enjoyed spending time with family especially in the Poconos or at the Jersey Shore.  Emily graduated from Boyertown High School and Pottstown Hospital School of Nursing.  She had a varied and fulfilling nursing career working in hospitals, medical offices, and industrial settings.  Before moving to Davidsville, Emily and Frank lived in Lansdale, PA (1965-2007), where they raised their family and built many lasting relationships especially those of their CFM family.  During retirement Emily and Frank traveled the US and took many trips abroad.  Emily enjoyed golf, reading, playing cards especially with her Lansdale and Davidsville card club friends, having lunch and laughs with her beloved Lansdale Red Hat Ladies, crossword puzzles, gardening and polka dancing. Whether assisting in the operating room or hosting guests around her dinner table, Emily prioritized the needs of others before her own, making all those around her feel safe, comforted and loved.  The family would like to thank the nurses, therapy, and entire staff at Laurel View Village for the care you gave to mom for these past 3.5 years since her debilitating stroke.  Due to the pandemic private viewing.  Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass with Masks and social distancing required 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church with Rev. Father Mark Begley Celebrant.  Committal Grandview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Fund at Laurel View Village 2000 Cambridge Drive Davidsville, PA 15928.  Dad is waiting to play “No Other Love” for you as he did many years while a DJ.  Mom passed 1 day before Dad’s birthday they can Polka Dance together at last.  The family is being serviced by the George E. Mason Funeral Home. Inc. Davidsville.
