Lichtenfels: Ernest R. Jr., 77 though many knew him as Sam, passed away suddenly on December 12, 2016. Born to Grace (Tomb) and Ernest R. Sr. on October 19, 1939 in Johnstown, PA. High School sweetheart Peggy (Horner) and Ernie married on September 26, 1959 and were married for a long and happy 57 years. They have resided in Davidsville for 54 years. Ernie was known as a hard worker and Christian man. He was a member and previous president of the Conemaugh Township Rotary Club and served on the church council at First Lutheran Church. He also served as Vice President at Moxham Lumber where he had worked for 52 years. Ernie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, feeding his bunnies and birds, and meeting with his Grandfathers Club. He was a volunteer for Windber Hospice for 9 years alongside his wife Peggy. Ernie also had an incredible sense of humor and would always bring out the best in people. Ernest is survived by his wife Peggy, children Sheri (Thomas) Roberts, Robin (William) Evans, Curtis (Shana Moser) and Christine “Issy” (Michael) Steffey. He is also survived by grandchildren Chad (April), Mindy (Matt), Courtney (Kyle), Kevin, Gracey, Kayla, Cara, April, Amy, and great grandchildren Seth, Jonah, and Heath. He is preceded in death by parents and siblings, Betty, Janet, and Dwight. Family receiving friends Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville and from 2 until time of funeral service at 2:30 Friday at First Lutheran Church; Johnstown.
