Gary E. Hockins

HOCKINS - Gary Eugene, 82, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2024. Born on September 19, 1941, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Willard and Gertie (Eash) Hockins. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 40 years, Linda (Pfeil) Hockins. He is survived by his sons Shane (Aparna) of Baltimore, Maryland, and Keith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; daughter Sarah (Isaac) Conrad of Cleveland, Tennessee; and granddaughters Emma and Olivia Conrad.

Gary was a 1959 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served as an air-traffic controller during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired after decades of service as a lineman from the Pennsylvania Electric Company. He enjoyed playing chess, crafting wooden signs, and collecting yo-yos.

A committal of ashes will be at Kaufman Cemetery in Davidsville, Pennsylvania. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Please consider a donation in his name to the American Red Cross.
