Shaffer: Harriet “Tootie”, of New Paris went home to be with the Lord October 8, 2021 at Donahoe Manor. Born February 4, 1929 in Hollsopple the daughter of Earl and Violet (Wilton) Benson. Preceded in death by parents, husband Homer E. Shaffer who died March 13, 2012, sister Betty J. Custer. Survived by loving daughter Mary Jo Lawery and many nieces and nephews and their families and her “Adopted” daughters. Half sister of Gary Gerould. Tootie was a former member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Oldwick Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Tootie along with Homer were the owners of Shaffer’s Greenhouse for 23-plus years. She was a member of the Johnstown Farmers Market for more than 15 years having grown about 50 acres in produce but was known for her baked goods. Tootie loved crafting having been a vendor at Founders Crossing with all her crafts. She will be missed by all her loving pets. Family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville where private funeral services will be held Monday with Pastor Sarah Adkins officiating. Interment Custer Cemetery.
