James Ruis Obituary

Ruis: James R. “Vince” 93, of Davidsville died June 11, 2020 at Conemaugh Hospital.  Born October 7, 1926 in Hollsopple the son of Michael and Rose “Angelo” Ruis.  Preceded in death by parents and these siblings Patrick and Joseph Ruis, Lena DiFrancesco, Mary Ricchiuto, and Helen Fratrich.  Survived by wife of 53 years to the love of his life Nancy (Gottwald) Ruis and these children Kristen Ruis and boyfriend Scott Peoples, and Mark and wife Mary Cvrkel.  Also survived by grandchildren Ryan Cvrkel, Ashley Cvrkel, and Samuel Gennett.  Vince was the brother of Anita Senuta and also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.  He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran serving in WWII and the Korean War.  After graduating the Art Institute of Pittsburgh he went to teach Commercial Art at Vo-tech where he enjoyed teaching and is still remembered fondly by his students.  He was a very talented artist.  When he left Vo-tech he owned and operated Ruis Screen Service and Shoppe II in Hollsopple.  He was glad to have the chance to care for his wife Nancy in the last years she was able to live at home.  Cooking in his later years was a joy to him and he enjoyed his trips to Market Basket and Walmart and the Post Office to see friends.  Family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M. Monday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 at St. Andrew Catholic Church.  Father Peter Crowe officiant.  Committal Grandview Cemetery.
