Burkett: Jeffery L., 70 of Johnstown went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2025, surrounded by family and friends at home. Born September 5, 1955, in Johnstown the son of Donald and Ruth (Holsopple) Burkett. Preceded in death by parents, infant brother and sister Anna “Pumpkin” Cowan. Survived by loving wife of 40 years Carolyn (Bush) Burkett and children Matthew (Kristy), Amanda (Quenteen), Justin, Brandy, Chad Varner (Jean), Judy Pebley (Keith), Jason Varner (Des), and Jennifer Varner. Loving grandfather of Ruca Burkett who Jeff and Carolyn raised and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jeffery was the brother of Harold (Mary), Linda (Barry “Ike”), Donald, Daniel (Debbie), Margaret (Tony), and Darrell “Bubba” (Theresa). Jeff was a 1974 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. He ran the family business Burkett Builders for over 40 years with his brother Harold, building and remodeling many homes in the community paying special attention to detail. He enjoyed what he did tremendously, passing the trade skills down over the years. Jeff loved picnics with his family and vacations to Outer Banks, or daily family trips. He enjoyed playing cards, reading his Bible and spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of Davidsville Community Church where a Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday October 18. Family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M. at the Church with Pastor Wes Yoder Officiating. The family wishes to thank the Windber Hospice for all their care and support especially Jake.
