Joyce Berkebile Obituary

Berkebile: Joyce Maxine, 67, died April 17, 2025, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Johnstown, PA.  Born January 20, 1958, in Johnstown, PA. The daughter of Don and Maxine (Crissy) Cortese.  Preceded in death by parents Don and Maxine Cortese, brother Michael Cortese, and husband Robert Berkebile. Survived by son Tyler Berkebile and wife Alexis Berkebile (Hart). Sister of Don Cortese and wife Trina Johnstown, PA; Randy Cortese and wife Kris Windber, PA; Greg Cortese, Pittsburgh, PA; Jeff Cortese, Johnstown, PA; Daniel Cortese, Addison, PA; and Christopher Cortese and wife Rosie, Hollsopple, PA. Also survived by special niece Amyiah Cortese.  She was also an aunt to many other special nieces and nephews.  Joyce was a loving mother, sister, and aunt.  She was a special friend to many people.  Joyce worked for Conemaugh Twp. Police Department for many years; also working for Hollern and Son’s Dodge in Windber.  Joyce loved gardening, planting flowers, and baking.  She was famous for her pepperoni rolls among her son’s friends.  Joyce was an active member of the Benscreek Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she spent time volunteering in a preaching work to neighbors in the area.  Joyce spent her life serving Jehovah God and sharing the hope she had in the Resurrection, and in a time where “death will be no more” (Rev 21:4)  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday May 3, 2025 at 2 PM at the Benscreek Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 103 Hillview Street Johnstown, PA 15905 The service will also be broadcast over Zoom:
