Shontofski: Matthew James, 49 of Johnstown died unexpectedly, but gave the gift of life through organ donation, on December 11, 2024, at Conemaugh Hospital. He was born on March 21, 1975, in Johnstown, the son of Charles F. and Brenda G. (Croyle) Shontofski. Preceded in death by daughter Mia and Paternal and Maternal Grandparents Frank and Jane Shontofski and Donald and Esther Croyle. Survived by parents and these children Damek, Sophia, Blaise, Jude, and Mary. He will be missed by his brother Daniel and his wife Melissa and his nieces Noelani and Kaia. He is also survived by former wife Victoria Shontofski. He was a graduate of Bishop McCort High School and St. Francis University. He was a proud United States Army Veteran who furthered his career in Law Enforcement following his discharge. Matthew was a member of St. Bennedict Catholic Church. Private visitation will be held with prayers being said by Father Aaron Maghsoudi celebrant. Committal Mount Carmel Cemetery Jennerstown next to his daughter Mia.
