Smakula: Mildred Judith “Millie” 94 of Church of the Brethren Home died June 30, 2017 at the home.  Born May 2, 1923 in Johnstown the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Kubanda) Struba.  Preceded in death by parents, husband John M. Smakula, Sr. who died August 23, 2001, brothers Frank, John, and Steve, and sister Mary Miljenovich.  Survived by children Joanne married to Ron Blough, Linda married to Gary Carney, John Jr. “Smacks”, and David.  Also survived by grandchildren Michael Blough and David Blough and wife Emily,  and great grandchildren Ella and Ethan Blough.  She was the sister of Anna Mae Stuba and sister-in-law of Joe and Sandy Smakula, and Smokey and Kushie Smakula.  She will be missed by special friends Martha Minor and Betty Jarvis, and many nieces nephews and family.  Millie was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.  She graduated from Catholic High.  During WWII she worked at National Radiator in Elkton, MD in a factory welding and making ammunition.  She worked for Kay Artley and Jonny Jax Sewing Factories.  Millie was a member of The Crows in Jerome and the Hollsopple Sr. Citezens Center.  Our heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Church of the Brethren Home and Windber Hospice for their outpouring love, compassion, care, and friendship.  God Bless all of you.  Family asks please no food.  Family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the George E. mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville where Vigil for the Deceased will be held.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church Davidsville with Father John Voytek O.F.M. Conv. Celebrant.  Committal St. Anne Catholic Cemetery.  Family asks donations be made to Windber Church of the Brethren Home or Windber Hospice in Mildred’s name.
