Varner: Miriam L. of Johnstown went to be with the Lord in Heaven on March 1, 2017 at Laurel View Village at the age of 94.  Born November 18, 1922 in Johnstown.  Daughter of the late Daniel and Edith (Makin) Howard.  Preceded in death by beloved husband Robert N. Varner who passed away June 7, 1987.  Also preceded in death by stepbrothers and sisters Clarence, Arthur, Daniel, Edith Tremain, and Kathryn Hustage, and maternal brothers George and Bob and sister Donna.  Survived by devoted brother and sister Leroy Howard and Ruthie Mansour of Johnstown.  Also survived by loving children Sheila D. married to John Eash; Duncansville, Charlene K. married to Charlie Kulik, and Robert L. married to Michele both of Johnstown.  Six grandchildren Kristy married to Ben Oakes, Lindsay and Chad Kulik, and Aubrey, Bobby, and Hailey Varner.  Great grandchild Liam and soon to be great granddaughter Lily Oakes.  One of the early members of Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church, and grew up in the Morrellville Church of the Brethren.  Miriam was a devoted wife to her husband “Bob” who she was married to for 45 years upon his death.  She was devoted and dedicated to raising their three children in an era when being a good housewife and a loving, nurturing Mom was the norm and family values were top priority.  Miriam was a friend to all that knew her and loved the friendships she developed at the Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church over the years.  In her new home at Laurel View she was very happy based on the loving relationships with many friends and staff.  Our family will miss the kind people at Laurel View.  Special thanks to the Asera Care Hospice and her special angels Susie, Mary Jo, and Erica.  It has been a long journey for our beautiful mother…so go run free with the angels, dance around the golden clouds, for the Lord has chosen you to be with him. Miriam/Mom “Well done, good and faithful servant.”  Rest well Mom we will always love you and will miss you until we meet again! Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church at 1 P.M. Friday with Pastors Gary Tustin and Jeffrey Bassette officiating.  Internment Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Those who wish can make donations to can be made to Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Missionary Fund or Laurel View Village Caring Fund.  Arrangements by George E.
