Helsel: Richard E. “Dick”, 87 of Hollsopple died November 30, 2019 at Windber Hospice. Born October 25, 1932 in South Fork the son of Merle and Esther (Chilton) Helsel. Preceded in death by parents brother Clifford and sister Linda McQuaide. Survived by wife of 59 years Betty (McIntosh) Helsel and these children Dawn married to Richard Defibaugh, William married to Christine (Naugle) Helsel, Lisa married to Bruno Rosa, and Kimberly married to Harrison Hetz. Also survived by his loving grandchildren Jeremy, Blair, Luke, Nathan, Chad, Hannah, Emma, Jamie, Sam, and 9 great grandchildren. Brother of Dave Helsel, Dan Helsel, Barry Snow, and Bill Snowball. Dick was a member of Benscreek Lutheran Church. He was a proud US Navy Veteran. After retiring from McQuaide Trucking as a parts manager he enjoyed working at Zapkas Harley Davidson. Dick could make anyone feel welcome with his gift of hospitality and was the king of one liners. He loved spending time with his family, hunting fishing, camping, riding his Harley, and traveling with his wife who was his best friend. No viewing at his request. Family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville. A Memorial Service will be held at Benscreek Lutheran Church 11 A.M. Thursday with Pastor Scott Hostetler officiating. Inurnment Forest Lawn Cemetery at convenience of family. Family asks in Lieu of flowers please donate to Windber Hospice.
