Thompson: Richard P. of Hollsopple died January 5, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born March 9, 1929, in Soap Hollow the son of Jacob and Nora (Croyle) Thompson. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Janet Valerie (Reavel) Thompson who died April 11, 2017, and sister Wilma Thomas. Survived by his children Robert and wife the former Joyce Boratko, Mary and husband Paul Seitz, David and wife the former Linda Scholl, and Richard and wife the former Vicki Sendek. Loving grandfather of Jennifer (Mark), Katelyn (Brian), Brian (Gina), Travis (Sidney), Michael (Adrienne), Brianne (Zach), Adam (Olivia), Laura (Kevin), and Meghan (Owen), and great grandfather of Charley, Sydney, Brooks, Kensington, Karissa, Grant, Colt, Emmett, and Gabriel. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. David’s Lutheran Church. Richard was proud of where he was born and growing up in Soap Hollow. He attended a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Conemaugh Township High School in 1947. He was an Army Korean War Veteran. Richard retired after working 30 years at the Hiram G. Andrews Center as the Carpentry Foreman. Following retirement, he loved traveling with his wife Janet and attending Air Shows with family. He also enjoyed attending auctions and even worked part time for Mishler’s Auction Services. Richard loved to read, especially books on Gettysburg, Civil War, WWII, aviation, and genealogy. He also had a grandfather who fought in the 7th Virginia Cavalry during the Civil War. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers Megan, Jackie, Brianne, Shelly, Debbie, Linda, Janie, Vicky, Chris, Charlene and 365 Hospice for all their care and love given to our father. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville. Funeral Service will be held 10 A.M. Thursday at St. David’s Lutheran Church Davidsville with Pastor Faron Johnson officiating. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
