V. Donald Hartnett

Hartnett: V. Donald, 91 of Johnstown died November 9, 2021, at Westmont Woods.  Born August 19, 1930, in Johnstown the son of Vincent E. and Irene E. (Siehl) Hartnett.  Preceded in death by parents, wife Rosalyn (Smith) Hartnett, daughter Karen Spencer, son Patrick Donald Hartnett, brother Dr. Robert Hartnett, and sister Barbara Griffin.  Survived by grandchildren Justin (Mona) Spencer, Hannah, and Hunter Hartnett, and son-in-law Rick Spencer.  Don was a Marine Corps Veteran serving in the Korean War as a Staff Sgt.  Don attended University of Maryland on a Wrestling Scholarship. He was a retired public-school principal for Garfield High School with 36 years’ service in the Greater Johnstown School District. Don had wrestled for the Marines and later was a coach and officiated matches for the Greater Johnstown School District.  His last active wrestling was in 1978 where he wrestled for the Old Time Wrestlers Tournament and won at age 49.  No viewing at his request.  Private graveside service at Grandview Mausoleum.  Family is being served by the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville.
