Woodbury- In loving memory of Vida E. Miller, who peacefully passed away at the age of 103 at the Regional Hospice Facility in Danbury, Connecticut on July 25, 2024.
A woman of unwavering strength and gentle grace, Vida's life began on April 13, 1921, in Davidsville, Pennsylvania, the beloved daughter to Homer and Elsie Vida (Sorber) Merley. Vida attended local schools, graduating from Conemaugh Township High School located on her grandfather’s land.
Throughout her remarkable journey, Vida carved a legacy of kindness, quick-wit, and effortless elegance. Devoted wife of the late Grant M. Miller, a revered Purple Heart veteran of World War II, their love story spanned over five decades, encompassing companionship and boundless affection.
Vida's life was one filled with purpose and service, from her dedicated work with the Department of the Navy during World War II to her role as a compassionate leasing agent for apartments in New Jersey. Her faith was a guiding force, shaping her path and enlightening those around her through her steadfast commitment to Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church (CRLC) in Trumbull, Connecticut.
In the tapestry of her life, Vida was a precious thread woven through the lives of her cherished family. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Bonnie Kidwell, her sisters Mary Minahan and Ruth E. Johnson and her dear parents. Her spirit lives on through her son, Brian K. Miller, his wife Donna, her grandchildren Jason C. Miller and his wife Lindsay, Mallory Cioana and her husband Vasile, and Christopher Kidwell as well as her great-grandchildren Sophia Miller, Priscilla Miller, Ronan Cioana, and Davis Cioana. She will be missed dearly by her sister Sara Mostoller who lives in Davidsville.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Vida's remarkable life will be held in her hometown of Davidsville, Pennsylvania on July 30, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville. Interment will follow in Maple Spring Church. The service will be officiated by Rev Paul Waldek (CRLC) A memorial service in Connecticut in August will be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to regionalhospicect.org in her name.
