HOLBAY – William J. Jr, 79, Johnstown, died peacefully May 29, 2023, at UPMC Family Hospice - Pittsburgh. Born March 21, 1944, in Johnstown, son of William J. Sr. and Agnes E. (Nitch) Holbay. Preceded in death by parents and brothers, Robert and George. Survived by loving siblings Carol; Thomas; James, married to Sujan (Philip); Michael, married to Fay (Gillin); Mary Jo, married to Leslie Holsopple; Stephen; Susan; Janet, married to George Shuman; and sister-in-law Debra. Also survived by nephews Brad and wife Amy; Todd Adam and wife Ashley; David; Michael and wife Shaley McClain and great-nephews and nieces Heather; Hudson; Hunter; Victoria, Ruby, Catie; and Henry. He will be missed by his fur kids Sidney & Sophia. Member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. A 1962 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. Member of Operating Engineers Local 66. Member of Company B, 103rd Armor, 28th Infantry, Pa. National Guard with rank of E-5 Specialist Mechanic. His love of J-Stock 55 Chevys led him to spend his summer Sundays at the Mason-Dixon Dragstrip quarter-mile track and operating the Holbay Garage. Farming has always been in his blood from making hay with brother Bob and his uncle Peter to raising pigs and beef cows with his Uncle Joe, and finally to the Holbay Dairy Farm. Family receiving friends from 2pm to 4 pm and 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 1st at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville. At Bill’s request, there will be a private family service and committal.
