Rev. Marvin L. Kaufman, 83, of Broadway, VA, passed away on February 16, 2017.  Born in Johnstown, PA, son of Calvin E. and Margaret (Shetler) Kaufman on June 14, 1933.  Preceded in death by parents, son (Lynn Douglas) and brother Melvin (Goshen, IN).  Survived by wife, Ruth (Hershberger) whom he married on August 28, 1954; children:  LaVonne (wife of Dr. Joseph Martin); Lori (wife of Dr. Edward S. Gant, Jr.); and Marci (wife of Daryl Myers) all of Harrisonburg, VA.  Also survived by 11 grandchildren:  Holly Martin, Andrew (Nichole) Martin, Kelly (Joseph) Trease, Katie and David Martin, Becky, Sarah and Anna Gant; Jessica (Eric) Fitzgerald, Kristen and Emily Myers; great grandsons, Levi Gant, Jackson and Asher Fitzgerald and Norman Martin.  Survived by brother Gerald (Marlene), Brownstown, PA; sisters Lorene (widow of Merle) Saylor, Hollsopple, PA and Rhonda (Melvin) Blough, Johnstown, PA.

Graduate of Johnstown Mennonite School in 1951; studied Business Administration with American Business College, Chicago; theology courses with Ligonier Bible Study Center associated with Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.  Owner of Kaufman Plastering Contracting from 1955 - 1977.  Ordained as a deacon of Stahl Mennonite Church in 1971 and as a minister at Carpenter Park Mennonite Church in 1977 where he served as pastor from 1977-1997.  Other Mennonite churches he pastored were Stahl, Johnstown, PA, 1999 - 2004, Otelia, Mt. Union, PA in 1998, Lynside, Lyndhurst, VA & Crossroads, Broadway, VA, 2005 – 2006, Beldor, Elkton, VA (interim in 2009).

Served as treasurer of Johnstown Christian School; member of Nazareth Hospital Project Board; treasurer of Johnstown Mennonite Ministerium; chairman of Allegheny Missions and Service Commission; charter board member of Laurel View Village; president of Conemaugh Twp. Ministries; chairman of Cash Assistance Committee of St. Francis Sharing & Caring; member of Zion Mennonite Church Care Commission.

Family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of funeral service at 11 A.M. at Stahl Mennonite Church.  Pastor Wes Yoder officiating.  Interment Stahl Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given to St. Francis Sharing & Caring, 325 Woodstown Hwy, Hollsopple, PA 15935.
