I had the honor of being Ralph's occupational therapist while he was in the hospital. I have worked there for 4 years but no patient has made me look forward to my time with them everyday as Ralph did. Maybe because he reminded me of my own grandpa. He was the sweetest man with quite a sense of humor. I wanted to listen to music during one of our sessions to brighten the day and he said he liked Pink...so we listened to Pink while sitting up on the edge of the bed. I said "who else do you like? Do you like Frank Sinatra?" He said "oh no, that's a little old!" ...brought a smile to my face! He also brought a tear to my eye one day speaking of how much he loved his wife. I imagine they are up in heaven, dancing! I'm so happy to have met him, even for a short time.
My condolences go out to Ralph's family. May you hold your memories close. I'm so sorry for your loss of your father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

I was blessed to meet Ralph in the week before his death as his physical therapist at Shadyside hospital. Although I spent only several hours in total with him, our interactions touched my life in ways I cannot express through words. His kindness and optimism, even in his state of illness, gave me a glimpse into his world and inspired me to continue to help others. My heart goes out to his family - he will surely be greatly missed. While listening to "Pink" doing his therapy, he was always grateful and simply a loving man - and humorous! To his sons, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. My sincerest condolences from both myself and our therapists at Shadyside hospital.

Love,
Daria Damico
